I must say that the people who comment on this blog watch their language and disagree respectfully. It would seem to be common sense and pretty much what one should have learned in kindergarten when commenting but some people have a difficult time with the concept of civility.
Trust me, if I allowed anonymous comments and didn’t instantly delete and ban trolls this site would be as bad as the other ones that do. The level of discourse when it comes to Jean Schmidt is generally pretty base. In my opinion this actually helps her.
Many of the most recent popular topics on the Congresswoman are things that I will never talk about because they have absolutely nothing to do with anything that matters. Personally I think that it denigrates the site when they stoop to those levels.
Moderators of blogs that allow comments have to be extra vigilant about what happens on their sites.
Editor, I shall not forget that you zapped me for saying that Nate Noy’s pro-gun rant made me want to go get my gun. It was tongue-in-cheek. Sort of. Sheesh.

The problem is that people can’t see where your tongue is online.
As someone who’s been subjected to death threats online it is something that I take very seriously.
Online speech brings out the worst in people, especially if moderators let it happen.
