Democratic fundraisers can be the perfect setup for a Vanity Fair photo shoot. Gorgeous men with tan skin, lanky bodies, blonde highlights, sparkling blue eyes, french blue oxford shirts, and pleated khaki pants striking debonair poses. Last night, the Ted Strickland fundraiser hosted by Paul Hackett and featuring John Edwards was simply HOT.
There were beautiful people EVERYWHERE!. Let me start off by saying John Edwards is one fine specimen. Blue eyes that light up a room and just enough of a country drawl to be considered sexy. Standing next to Paul Hackett who didn’t quite meet the same standard even though he was wearing a similar french blue oxford and khakis, he lacked socks with his dress shoes thus making Edward the more sophisticated man. Naturally Mr. Strickland, being the elder statesman, showed them all up by donning a tie with his french blue and khakis.
Watching these 3 men stand up together and speaking I couldn’t help but think what a beautiful day it will be when I can vote for all three of these men. While Edwards never really came out and said anything about running for President, he sure as hell sounded like he was. His speech was inspiring and honest about where we are today and where we need to be. The true moral dilemmas facing us as Americans. The proverty level in the greatest country in the world is disgusting. It was really just great.
But I am getting too serious and my point to this whole thing is how incredibly FUN this event was. The bluegrass band playing in the background. The huge turnout of hot young democrats was very inspiring even if it was hard to remember this was a fund raiser and not an espisode of Sex in the City with incredibly smart people. Cool and trendy democrats!!!….If I had known this kind of thing was going on back in the day….welll…I wont go there. Paul had a great spread of food and drink but there was so much socializing. Great conversations everywhere you turn.
I’ve got to take a minute to mention Dr. Victoria Wulsin. y’all, this little lady has SOOOOOOO much energy. I got tired just watching her. She talked to every single person in that room. Really conversated with them not just the standard “Hi, Bye, Take Care”. I bet she was a cheerleader back in her day because she is so damn bubbly and happy and remembers everyones name and so dang gone nice…Whew!!! She is a ball of fire!! Again…looking FABulouS in pink and black. Connie Pillich, running for State Rep in the 28th district was another dynamic woman who was working the room and full of energy I had the pleasure of meeting. Not to forget the chic Karen Adams, running for State Rep in the 35th district who is everywhere all the time leading the charge of women bring real substance to the political field.
The thing is it is just great to see such a diverse group of people all working for the same cause. You guys know I am all about the people and not so much about the politics. Rebuilding the democratic party starts just like this….on the ground….everyday people building relationships…fighting for the greater good….Together.
Change is a coming…..Come join in.

The Enquirer covered the rally that Edwards did earlier that day in Cincinnati over the minimum wage.
[...] Mrs. Editor previously wrote about the first part of the Strickland fundraiser at Paul Hackett’s house. I attended the second, bigger party at Livingston Lodge, a historical cabin, and it was an incredible evening- the kind of event that reinvigorates your idealism in a climate of cynicism. [...]
Jean Schmidt vs Victoria Wulsin: A Contrast in Campaigns…
Saturday, Jean Schmidt addressed a crowd estimated to be of 20,000 at Midsummer of the Meadows in Miami Township and spent nearly four hours shaking hands with those in the audience.
Her opponent, Victoria Wulsin, was guzzling the alcohol at P…..
Project Logic:
Guzzling? When a Democrat has a beer it’s guzzling but when a repuglican has a beer it’s just a social thing? Crowd or 20,000? Looked pretty sparse in the picture. Oh yeah, repubicans use a different way of counting.
I think Jean needs to get out and relax more. Party a little bit with the people. Get her groove on.
Party a bit with the people? Please…I don’t think you will EVER see her do that!
BTW, leave it to you to turn a political event into a night at chippendales, baby.
LOL…guzzling. Now thats a spin for ya.
Mrs E…yeah Eric tried to defend that statement by saying guzzling…well if I liked it better, drinking a beer. COME ON.
I hope they spin themselves silly!
Let’s be realistic and factual if nothing else!
