I would love to see a progressive breach before the 2006 midterms. We didn’t make it with the OH-02 special… CA-50 came up short… our last chance to build up that progressive wave with an electoral victory is the Lamont-Lieberman Senate primary. Ned Lamont’s numbers are looking very very good, and all of the positive energy is on his side. So far Lieberman’s most enthusiastic supporter has been Ann Coulter.
Check out 2nd district blogger alumnist Tim Tagaris’ diary over @ DKos on the race, and if you agree that this is a good investment in our future show Ned Lamont some love. (BTW, this would also be a good way to stick it to Chuck Schumer over his actions in the Senate primary.)
Here’s Lamont’s latest campaign ad, and it’s a good one:

feh.
Sending money out of ohio for this waste of time is a bad idea. We need to be electing Democrats and beating republicans.
For me ending the war as soon as possible is a higher priority than electing Democrats. A Lamont victory makes that possible.
PLUS, I think that a defeat of pro war Lieberman gives cover for all the Democratic candidates who are against the war but afraid of being painted as weak.
In the end I see a Lamont victory helping the whole country, especially Ohio.
Politicians are weak. They need to carrot of money to reward them when they are good, and the stick of hard primary challenges when they are bad. Right now Democrats in the Senate need the stick. In the case of Lieberman, a very big stick.
Me and staff @ BSB are debating this over on his site. He’s also got a post on it.
