While the two main Republican candidates allied with their pals at the Enquirer have been trying to out disgrace one another, candidates on the Democratic side of the fence have been talking about real issues and offering substantial solutions. Case in point Thor Jacobs.
Yesterday his campaign released his paper The Way Out – My Prescription for Success in Iraq [PDF] (For those want to cut to the chase, they’ve been kind enough to provide a synopsis [PDF])
This is no position paper prepared by staffers in order to create a venear of gravitas. This is a document written by an expert expressing ideas fordged by real world experience.
So take your pick Southern Ohio. On one side you’ve got a teacher, a healer, a health care expert, an engineer and a Middle East expert. On the other you’ve got a megalomaniacal aerobics instructor, and a disgraced former Congressman turned lobbyist for third world oppression.

Jack Murtha gave the US a way out of Iraq months ago. It doesn’t require an 11 page thesis. It requires common sense.
We have been talking about the failure of the President’s strategy (or lack therof) for more than 3 years…
Listen to the soldiers and commanders on the ground! Listen to people like Paul Hackett. Enough talk… It’s time for action.
Elect Jim Parker to US Congress
Vote on May the 2nd
I have looked the Parents of just ONE TOO MANY Lost American Soldiers in the Eyes these last 8 months. Enough talk. Enough planning. Enough rhetoric… It’s time for Actions, Decisions and Solutions – VOTE for JIM PARKER on May 2nd
A “megalomaniacal aerobics instructor?”…
That’s funny. I love to start my day with a laugh…
Jim Parker
Not to be picky but Schmidt isn’t an aerobics instructor (it’s in the service industry and you have to like and motivate people) but a marathon runner (competitive loner) and works out in a gym. In the service of accuracy and a real aerobics instructor was offended by the very idea of Schmidt and a friend of mine who is an aerobic instructor was a little upset about it so I thought I’d just do the correction for her. However, I think the megalomaniac tag is accurate. Oh, and the description of the Democratic candidates running in the 2nd is accurate. They are a terrific group of people and a privilege to have met. I am particularly pleased and proud of how respectful they are of each other.
I’ve heard that the Congresswoman used to teach aerobics. If I am wrong I to apologize to the whole community.
