The Enquirer has endorsed Congresswoman Jean Schmidt and Dr. Victoria Wulsin for the primary. Neither is particulary ringing. On Schmidt:

A lot has happened since Jean Schmidt was elected last summer to replace Rob Portman as Ohio’s 2nd District representative in the U.S. House. Unfortunately, not much of that has been good.

I did find their one positive rational interesting:

She can be effective. Her performance in the wake of the styrene leak on Cincinnati’s East Side last fall was substantive. She handled the issue and its follow-up well.

Really? I think I follow the Congresswoman closer than anyone. I don’t remember anything substantive coming out that incident. Can people point me to actually substantive things that resulted from her actions? I remember promises, interviews, a press conference, and then everything fizzling quietly away. Am I wrong? I would have thought that she would have sent out some press release or something trumpeting her legislation placing citizen safety above corporate profits; a rarity amongst her ilk.

Their rational for Wulsin seems to be her strong second finish to Paul Hackett in last years special election. She had a lot of fans early on in the second special, including initially a lot more support online than Paul. I can see the case although it would be nice if there was more actual policy behind their choice.

Still, as in most things in our A.D.D. society the branding is much more significant than what’s in the box. This will be a big boost for Dr. Wulsin. I don’t think that anyone is surprised by the Schmidt Endorsement. Their sticking with that pony till the end. Will this be the year when the Whistleblower’snobody wins the 2nd without the Enquirer’s endorsement” rule is finally broken? I know the Blowhard is certainly hoping so.
