Bizzyblog has been hitting the water treatment plant story pretty hard, both on his own blog and others. We asked the McEwen campaign for a response and they were kind enough to provide it:
A caller to the Tony Snow Wednesday day was being untruthful when it was alleaged that Bob McEwen demanded access to a water treatment plant named after him. Bob McEwen was not there. A film crew did film the treatment center from the outside. Although close-ups were preferred, the film crew was satisfied with the footage it captured from outside the fence. As it happened, the sole person authorized to grant access was not available at the time they arrived. Once again, let me emphasize that Bob McEwen was not at the plant.
This lie is the latest in a series of slanders we have experienced from Bob’s opponent. Bob’s opponent is the subject of two Elections Commission probes looking into her own dishonesty, including lying for 15 years on her resume about a bachelor’s degree she did not possess and falsely claiming endorsements from other Members of Congress she did not possess.
The Tony Snow show was being used to broadcast outright lies in the 30 days before the Republican primary election. Mr. Snow was gracious enough to provide Bob with an opportunity to set the record straight on Thursday.
Bob McEwen is talking about issues, such as Ohio’s monstrously high tax burdren and the job losses the state has experienced, and what can be done in support of our veterans. Our opponent is serving up personal attacks and outright fabrications in an attempt to avoid any discussion of her record and the two separate probes being conducted about some of the things she has done.
