I’d like to see Paul talk with Thom Hartmann about this. Thom has echoed similar stuff to what Paul has and he’s one of my favorite radio people / progressive thinkers.
I actually believe in Hackett’s position on illegal immigration.
The majority of Americans in both parties believe as he does. My parents who are LEGAL immigrants (from Costa Rica) do as well. Among African-Americans, this subject is extremely touchy too.
It is the politicians who take Bush’s stance on illegal immigration because they are afraid they will lose the Latino votes.
BTW, this comes from my personal experience as a Billionaire for Bush in Ohio. Many thought we were serious in asking them to sign petitions to cut the minimum wage in half.
I actually commend Hackett for taking on the subject of illegal immigration when he is so far to the right of the usual audience that listens to Air America. I am surprised there are not more audience members arguing with him.
That last point that Hackett made on illegal immigration is right on the money. That is what I believe too.
He believes that illegal immigration is propped up by the Republican party and Big Business to actually downgrade the wagers of working Americans and exploits illegal immigrants.
If Hackett would have hammered on illegal immigration in July and not done the pretend-Republican commercial tactic, he might have defeated Schmidt. But for some reason he kept his logical views on illegals virtually out of sight, except (Editor has told me) at the first debate. Big mistake.
Personally I disagree with Hackett (and Mrs. Editor) on much of what he says about immigration, but I really appreciate him breeching the subject.
No “Mad Mike”? . . . thank god.
Well editor . . . is that because your work visa is expired?
Sssssshhhhh

Editor could still blog from Mexico…no harm in that!
Eric . . . how clique . . . not all illegal immigrants are from Mexico!
Hackett’s Hot Rod?:

I thought he drove an RV?

Kick out all of the “illegal immigrants” and see how fast people realize what impact it will have. The food lines should be a real eye opener.
Mad Mike has made his entrance. I don’t think that most people will get or appreciate the ironic humor.
Liberals already get ultra nervous just bringing up this topic. I think you need some rational discussion first.
I am a liberal person but one thing I don’t like about us liberals is we can’t laugh at ourselves. Sometimes we are just too serious.
Humor is a relative term. You have to know your audience.

That Hackett is NO coward.
Billionaire for Bush?
I KNEW blogging paid!
