WLW is reporting [mp3] that the University of Cincinnati only has record of Jean Schmidt receiving one degree from the institution, not the two as she has claimed.
Audio via the Blower.
ADDED: The degree entry has been scrubbed from her website: BEFORE / AFTER
UPDATE: The Wayback pages appear not to be there any more. Here’s a screen shot:

Teaching certificate, education degree, what’s the diff? I am sure that Mean Jean and the University of Cincinnati just have a different recollection of events. Just like she and Steve Chabot. Just like she and Tom Tancredo. Just like she and Danny Bubp.

The fact that the Enquirer is spiking the story (so far) shows that they are in the tank for Jean Schmidt.
They won’t be able to ignore this forever, especially given Barry Bennett’s INCREDIBLY bold lie in the Cleveland Plain Dealer:
http://www.cleveland.com/weblogs/openers/
It is simply not believable that Jean Schmidt “did the work but didn’t pick up the degree” because she didn’t file the forms…
And her “mother got sick and later died” excuse is so far from truthful it’s laughable. Her mother didn’t pass until YEARS later.
This woman is a joke. Can you imagine a serious media interview on this topic? The blogosphere should be pounding her for this 16-year long lie - to force the media to hold her accountable.
Also, I’m almost certain the anti-Schmidt movement in Cincinnati will file a complaint with the OEC, surely the Enquirer will report that.

Lots of people lie about graduating from U.C. There was a rumor about a former Executive Director of the HCDP who lied to get his job.

The BEFORE link doesn’t work, or I don’t know how to use Wayback.

Hmm… I wonder what happened there
Good thing I took a screen shot.

I don’t understand. What did happen? You can’t go back and purge Wayback, can you?

I would assume that they would remove pages upon request. Better than facing a lawsuit.

Since I was in a 36-hour fog, what’s the date of the page that had the incorrect info on it? Recent, or many months ago?

I think you can tell from the link: http://web.archive.org/web/20050227063443

I remember it being from the early part of last year.

Editor, If you’re trying to tell me that the “resume error” hasn’t been present on her web site during this campaign season, I’m going to resist being impressed. I also have to say that at least today you have to do MORE work to get your teaching certificate after your get your masters degree (ask my spouse). Don’t know how it was when Jean was in school and both of us were much (sigh) younger.
March 30th, 2006 at 9:34 pm
So let me get this straight. Bizzy is going to “resist being impressed” on the grounds that Jean Schmidt lied for 16 years about having a college degree - because she didn’t get caught lying about it on her campaign web site - THIS YEAR.
Yeah. It’s OK to lie about having a college degree as long as you don’t get caught doing so in the current year.
Bizzy, we know you hate McEwen with passion. But it’s OK to hate Schmidt too. There is ample evidence that she’s got some serious ethical baggage - don’t let your hatred of McEwen blind you to Schmidt’s problems.

Oh, and Chris, you never told us. Who is David Edmondson?
P.S. The national media is starting to sniff out the Schmidt resume story. It was the LEAD question posed to Boehner in his press conference today.

Confirmed - Schmidt has requested a scrub of the Wayback Archive.

[…] For what it’s worth I’d like to hear from Jean on the Resume thing, but in light of the above, it’s not the type of thing that would make me switch my vote. […]
