According to the PD Opener Blog controversial interim campaign manager Dan Lucas has left the Sherrod Brown campaign.
Many in the upper echelons of the Democratic Party, including Congressman Sherrod Brown and ODP Spokesperson Brian Rothenberg, have admitted to hearing the false rumors that there was evidence Paul Hackett had committed war crimes in Iraq. Only Clermont County Democratic Chairman Dave Lane has been willing to publicly describe any actions by Mr. Lucas that might related to the “swiftboating” activities that Paul Hackett has accused of coming from the Sherrod Brown campaign.
Privately people have talked about being show pictures that were said to be of Hackett mistreating the body of an Iraqi casualty after the battle of Fallujah. Hackett has maintained that the picture wasn’t of him and that the photo was of someone doing normal casualty recovery operations. Part of Hackett’s job in Iraq was escorting groups to recover bodies.
This is not the first time that Dan Lucas has been at the center of controversy related to campaign activities.
As of now I’ve found no statement from the Brown Campaign as to the reason for Mr. Lucas’ exit.

“As of now I’ve found no statement from the Brown Campaign as to the reason for Mr. Lucas’ exit.”
freakin’ cowards.
The timing of the exit makes it seem as if Lucas has been assigned the role of Judas goat.
See…I dont get this duck and move business. The man has a history. Brown knew what he was getting when he hired him.
I’m sorry this resembles another scandal. Do your dirty deeds and slink on to another campaign….and try to do better….maybe not get caught.
I went back to read the Plain Dealer article that mentioned Dan Lucas in connection with the swiftboating stories.
“Hackett had previously shied away from identifying the source of the rumors. In an interview last week with The Plain Dealer, Hackett said he believed that he knew the source of the rumors but didn’t want to elaborate. He instead suggested that a reporter contact a supporter of his, Clermont County Democratic Chairman David Lane.
Lane said last week that he had no proof that a Democrat was responsible for the rumors, but he recounted a conversation last fall with Dan Lucas, an aide to Brown, in which he said Lucas told him “there are things out there about Paul that I don’t think he [Hackett] really wants to be made public.” “
Okay, so it’s possible that neither Brown nor any of his campaign staff ever specifically made statements that could be called “swiftboating”. But then, look how well much of the public was made to equate Saddam Hussein with 9/11, even though that association wasn’t stated in so many words by Bush.
Click the link to read about the dream I had last night. I think it was about Ohio politics, even though, on the surface, it appeared to be about a stupid cockatiel.

At least they got him out. And apparently fired Phil too.
And after the election in November, we can take them all to the woodshed and get back to the business of reclaiming the Democratic party for the people.
Does anyone remember the song “Throwing the dog a bone” by ACDC? This reminds me of that song.
The whole primary reminds my wife of the song “Have a Cigar” by Pink Floyd.
Burying The Hatchet In Ohio…
One of my big fears in the wake of the Hackett fiasco in Ohio was that Hackett and his followers would become so embittered by the actions of the DSCC and the Sherrod Brown campaign that they would either refuse to support Brown, or worse, that they wo…
