March 2006

who thinks that writing up anonymous death threats is a bad idea?

Great article in the Cleveland Free Times on Subodh Chandra and his MTB Debate with Marc Dann.

Republican blogger NixGuy gives a side by side comparison of Jean Schmidt and Bob McEwen.

Not a word at the Enquirer Politics Extra “blog” about the Schmidt resume story. With the PD Openers blog it was Blackwell (at first, although they seem to be doing a lot better now). With the Enquirer it’s Schmidt. Maybe y’all just aren’t ready for this here newfangled blogging thing.

UPDATE: C.O.A.S.T. just issued a press release on their complaint to the OEC concerning this story.

UPDATE 2: The story finally made it into the Enquirer.

The 2004 election battle was between the beltway vs. the grassroots. (not Bush vs. Kerry) It would seem that with powerplays like this that 2006 is more of the same. I don’t see any other way to explain spending $1,000,000 on a primary Congressional battle against such a strong candidate.

His topic is immigration. Nice.

From the PD Openers “blog”:

Comedian Rachel Dratch of NBC’s Saturday Night Live has been invited to stand in for U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt, who has declined to appear next month at a Cincinnati-area Republican club candidates’ debate.

There’s a simple question that I’m looking to have answered from any candidate when they speak. The funny thing is that I don’t really care what the answer is… just make sure it’s a good one. If a candidate doesn’t clearly answer the question every time they go before a crowd, I know that they’ve got work to do. Last night there was only one candidate who answered the question for me: Jim Parker. I knew why he was running. I knew exactly what he stood for. He needed a lot of work on how he was selling his message (Jim… slow down… slow WAY down… take a deep breath… smile… relax a little… take some time off every now and then… spend it with your family… ), but at least I knew what his message was.

The other candidates all had good things to say at times, but I didn’t know why they were there. Why are you running for office?

Photos are up of tonight’s event in Cincinnati. Annotations later. Raw audio is available. Sorry but I haven’t had time to edit it.

Be sure to check out DL Cinci who liveblogged the event.

I found out that one candidate that that is actively blogging was Jim O’Reilly, candidate for the Ohio court of appeals.

BTW, Hackett hosting Springer tomorrow 9 to Noon.

UPDATE: Andrew Warner has a report up @ the Cincinnati Beacon.
