The Fix’s running top ten list of in play House races has the Ohio 18th moving up to number five because of Bob Ney’s desire to go down swinging. Unfortunately Ted Strickland’s 6th has moved up to 2nd.

This paragraph stands out:

The battle for the House, so far, has yet to gel. At the micro level, Democratic blunders in Ohio give Republicans a reason to celebrate. At the macro level, an embattled White House and the prospect of more indictments in the ongoing lobbying scandal could create the national wave Democrats need to reclaim a majority.

Will Democrats be able to ride that wave? They’ve already missed one chance by failing to copy Gingrich and Dole’s winning moves in 1994 in the special. Failing to use the Murtha affair to get out in front on the war may be another. Those opportunities don’t come often. Tick tock, baby.
