I’m assuming you caught the additional charge:
The attempted “swiftboating” soon was followed by another whisper campaign falsely claiming that Hackett was expelled from college for sexual harassment.
What’s next? He burned crosses?
Butland’s point about how stupid it is to avoid primary battles is dead-on.

This whole thing was blundered from the get go. Butland is right about the effect this may have on the new dems. Brown needs all the new volunteers especiallly in southern Ohio. This mess from top to bottom makes them wonder if it’s worth working on a campaign to just put in the same old ethically challenged pols.
There is nothing wrong with a primary. If the ODP and DNC is so worried about the resources, why don’t they get the candidates to agree to a spending cap and agree to a no slime rule? Do the entire nation a favor and be an example of how it should be done. I have to say the primary in OH02 last spring was very clean and gave people a chance to real understand each candidate’s stand on issues. That’s the way it should be.
This taking out one of our own has to stop.

He burned crosses?) […]

Does anyone ask if there is any evidence of these rumors being true? If they are… then what?

Here’s a reply from Dale regarding an email I sent thanking him for providing a (more pro-Paul) voice to the Hackett withdrawal story and for expressing many Dems. frustration with the ODP and the DSCC for their seeming ‘living in a bubble syndrome’ about who would be the stronger statewide candidate and the behind the scenes machinations (or dirty tricks, depending on one’s political leanings): ‘Thought you’d like to know that the response to my piece has been huge —and overwhelmingly positive. thanks again.’
