I’m going to be miss Bouncing Bob’s press conference tomorrow because I’ll be in Columbus to see Dr. Dean. It will be nice to finally meet the person that inspired me to get back into politics. Tim Tagaris has been doing a great job of covering their trip around the country for Democracy Bonds.
There’s been a lot of static over the last few months with this damn Senate primary. The thing has become toxic. One thing that really cheered me up was getting this email from the Fingerhut for Governor campaign. It’s nice to see that somebody gets it. They get major props in my book.

Somehow I knew you were also “Howard-Empowered” Mr. Editor. I really enjoyed meeting the Chairman here in Montana, but I think Ohio (yep, I’m an ex-Buckeye) may need a housecall from the good Doctor more.
I met Howard Dean last year when he came to speak at Miami University prior to the election. He gave a very candid, funny, and ultimately powerful speech. When I talked to him casually afterward, he expressed his doubt that Kerry would win, which, in hindsight, makes me appreciate his judgment. Having met both Dean and Hackett, I can say that the men are strikingly similar in their personalities and approaches. How those Deaniac attributes affect Hackett’s Senate chances is unfolding before our eyes at the moment.
