One of our gentle readers caught Congresswoman Schmidt with Bill “Board of Education” Cunningham:

Jean Schmidt called into Bill Cunningham’s radio program this afternoon and talked about “Judge Ali-o-to”. I thought after the Murtha debacle she would have learned her lesson and started reading the newspaper and watching the news so she could learn things like who in Congress was a Marine and how to pronounce people’s names. Someone should also teach Jean that once an individual becomes a member of the United States Supreme Court they are referred to as “Justice Alito” — not “Judge Alito” and never “Justice Alioto.”

We’ll be looking forward to the podcast.

The Enquirer Politics Extra Blog (cough cough) is reporting that the Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush, will be headlining a Mike DeWine fundraiser in Cincinnati Feb. 23.

Is this in reaction to the fact that when you add up the money that Hackett and Brown are raising things are almost even, fear over William Pierce, or both? This race is heating up.

The other week I watched a report (Daily show or Colbert) on how the Pope has declared that there is no more Limbo. For those of you as ignorant as me, apparently Limbo is/was the place where Catholics believe the people born before Jesus went after they died and where the babies who die before being baptized go. Hell, Purgatory, Limbo, and Heaven. Correct me if I have misunderstood the way this works. Anyways, this really didn’t sit well with me. This man literally just walks out and announces out of the blue…’Ain’t no more Limbo’. The angels didn’t tell him, there was no burning bush, he didn’t hear any voices, St Peter didn’t send an email. They had a meeting and decided. Ain’t no more Limbo. Now I’m not real knowledgeable about the different religions. I was raised Southern Baptist. It’s all I know. I just don’t understand how the hell they just gonna get rid of Limbo. Presto chango…Poof..No more Limbo. Okay, so I go to work and I’m mad as hell for these people and I ask all the Catholic people I work with how they feel about it. Most people hadn’t heard about it yet and the few that did were just like….’yeah. That kind of stinks’ and just really shrugged it off. No more Limbo and ain’t nobody mad but me and I’m not even Catholic! It is this that got me to thinking about how politics is defining religion.

UPDATE: The Sherrod Brown campaign is reporting having raised $496,882.25 in the same quarter, with a cash on hand @ $2.37 million.

From the Hackett for U.S. Senate Campaign:

Blogesque has details and action items on the fight in Warren County against allowing a development in what has been called one of the most pristine areas in Southwest Ohio. This section from the Enquirer coverage stands out:

Under current zoning - and without a sewage treatment plant - the developers could put in 1,600 homes with no green space. With a treatment plant, the developers could put in as many as 6,000 homes on the property, Commissioner Dave Young said.

Hackett for Ohio has entered the blogosphere. BTW, my handle is, surprise, Ohio 2nd.

I’ve uploaded some pictures of Thor Jacobs with Ted Strickland at the Strickland fundraiser in Cincinnati.

Toledo Blade:

U.S. Rep. Sherrod Brown (D., Lorain) called the Bush-backed Medicare prescription-drug plan “the most confusing, corrupt, and costly health-care law in the nation’s history” in a visit to a Pharmacy Counter store on Central Avenue.

This is a home run for Sherrod Brown. Excellent coverage on a hotbutton issue with Hackett coming off as a oh, and by the way… Brown’s aggressive tone works well in print. Buckeye Senate offers more.

The effort to pressure to get Democrats to sustain a filibuster against Alito is raging. Check out DKos for information and action items. I really want to see them call the Republican’s bluff on the nuclear option.

How did I miss that Project Logic’s Eric Kephas was on the Schmidt payroll during the special election? Need to watch those expense reports.
