From the Drum Major Institute’s 2005 Year in Review:
An activist on Dailykos.com suggested an experiment to see if a concentrated effort from online activists could impact a campaign that the Democratic Party wasnt dedicating resources to. Tim Tagaris of SwingStateProject.org and GrowOhio.com a blog created by Congressman Sherrod Brown to foster grassroots activism in the Ohio Democratic Partybegan writing about Hackett after the primary election, contrasting Hacketts war heroism to opponent Jean Schmidts night on the town with lobbyists. Inspired by the blogs, progressive groups endorsed Hacketts race and raised $450,000 online. All this despite the fact that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee had initially rejected Hacketts request for funds because they didnt view him as a viable candidate.
Sigh… Maybe we need a blogosphere publicist. Does anyone know Bob Brighams?
(via Swing State Project)

Rodney Dangerfield RIP.
Ouch.
Pathetic. Hackett owes you a lot.
Oh damn…that’s just too jacked up for words.
Can a girl get a fact checker?
Seriously? Aw well sweetie…everyone that matters knows how it went down and that’s all that matters. Keep the faith boo.
Ah Bud, we all know it was Sherrod Brown who done it all.heh
The new Hackett website is an eyesore. I hope it’s still under construction.
I had the same reaction. I was hoping that it was something temporary because it definately is dysfunctional.
I dont know about the look but I like the features. Knowing where his events are is way cool….or it will be. Mayhaps its not quite done.
Ann, it is – it’s done by the same folks who do the DNC website.
Phew.
Wait, by “it is” I thought you meant that it is still under construction. But now I see that you’re just agreeing with my opinion that it is ugly…sigh The DNC website is pretty hideous too. I’m going to give the website people a few days to clean it up before I get scared. For a few good campaign sites, I like Jon Tester’s http://www.testerforsenate.com/ and Sherrod Brown’s: http://www.sherrodbrown.com/
I just want to go on the record, again, as letting everyone know that “The Editor” is the first person I always mention when people ask me about Hackett. Just last night I was talking about it with Meghan … telling her that none of it would have happened with out you.
Further, I think the whole thing was stars aligning together to make an almost perfect situation. If one star of many was out of place, the results wouldn’t have been the same. Of course there were a few stars that others revolved around, and this blog at the center of all of that; especially for the first few weeks/months.
Tim
P.S. Again, I even wrote about all of this on Grow Ohio, if you remember the post, Mr. Editor.
Oh, Ann, you made Jerome and Markos’ book. I think the OH-2 blog did as well. fwiw.
Tim
Wow, that’s really flattering. Thanks for letting me know, Tim!
Who gives a crap about a website. No person wins an election based upon their website.
I actually prefer this website. The other one was too confusing.
I give a crap about this website.
I am was talking about Hackett’s website. It looks fine to me (and so does yours).
It’s the fonts on the Hackett site – they are horrible, too small and I dunno ugly. a quick css change would fix it.
This thread has moved over to Buckeye Politics. My comment.
Editor,
If you don’t like Hackett’s new web site design, please email him why and give good suggestions on how to improve it. I think Hackett reads his emails and I am sure he is open to suggestions and probably would change it.
