Tim Russo is saying that he got chewed out by Sherrod Brown and his wife Connie Schultz last night at the ODP Christmas party. Anyone else get dressed down by the Congressman?
This post is starting to look prescient.
UDPATE: Buckeye Senate has details of his meet and greet with Sherrod Brown. YOW!
UDPATE 2: Sherrod Brown’s people flat out deny Buckeye Senate and Russo’s accounts.
BTW, I wonder if this is the woman they’re talking about getting into a heated exchange with Sherrod Brown? Watch out, she’s a WWII veteran. I hear this wasn’t the first round she’s gone with the Congressman and his wife.
UPDATE 3: Buckeye Senate says “Brown flat out lies”. Interesting times.
UPDATE 4: Clark St. tracks back with a blogging platform that doesn’t do trackbacks.

I need a second-hand account of this occurrence to believe it.

Both Live from Dayton and Buckeye Senate are hinting at something. It will be interesting to see what comes out.

There’s a part of me that’s thinking good for him for getting into heated discussions with bloggers. Certainly more interesting then just playing all nice. We need more animated political dialog out there. Looks like 2006 is going to be the year for that.

Thanks for the links.
“After the vote I did get a chance to chat to quite a few people, including Paul Hackett, Sherrod Brown (I really don’t know what to make of Sherrod’s bizarre behavior tonight) and Connie Shultz and a host of others. Those stories tomorrow, plus some audio once I process it.”
Wow, I cannot wait to hear the full report.

Editor,
I’m dropping you an email about what went down as we speak. I assume BSB will break it. But yeah…Pounder tells the story better than I do.
I wasn’t there for the whole thing either.
December 20th, 2005 at 12:26 pm
Nevermind, BSB put it up.

Maybe my comment isn’t all that. Debating issues and tactics is one thing, bitching because we don’t kiss the ring is another.
December 20th, 2005 at 1:25 pm
Kissing the ring is exactly what it was all about. Brown is confused about what the Democratic party is. He thinks it is the progressive/liberal party and that means he should be the guy and everyone should fall in line - it’s like he is projecting his blog persona into his campaign or something.
December 20th, 2005 at 2:48 pm
People should certainly draw their own conclusions from these repots, but I will say the following: it is shocking and distressing…what if Brown is our nominee? Is this the conduct of the next Senator of our state?
December 20th, 2005 at 5:07 pm
That’s her. She is one of the sweetest activists you could meet. for Brown to go off on her and then lay the blame at her feet is disgusting. the man has ZERO character.
December 20th, 2005 at 5:10 pm
The gentleman is holding a card and stuffed lion that she gave to go to Hackett, cause Hackett was a lion for the Democrat Party.

[…] …at Buckeye Senate. Some pretty funny moments. And if you’re at all interested in the latest Sherrod Brown blog fiasco, see here and here. I commented at both, but other than that, I’m pretty much speechless. And that’s rare. (also, here’s the 84 year old WWII veteran who got in Sherrod’s crosshairs last night.) […]

Short version-pounder is full of crap, especially about the 84 year old woman.
Long version:
I was standing about two feet away when all this happened, talking to Connie Schultz about her new book that’s coming out next April (a collection of her Pulitzer-winning columns, btw).
A guy who had harassed Sherrod at a UAPA event a few months ago came up and wanted to get a picture with Sherrod. Sherrod agreed, and the guy brought the woman into it as well. While they were waiting for the picture, the guy started into Sherrod about “You split the party. You split the party.” Sherrod stayed pretty calm during all this; he only waved his arm once as a sort of “What?” shrug/gesture. After the picture was taken, Sherrod tried to disengage from the conversation, which was when the woman grabbed his arm. He disengaged and rejoined Connie.

ratdog - your full of shit.
In other threads you claim you where there when i talked to Brown - a flat out lie, and now you expect people to believe you where there when Brown agreed to have his photo taken with a guy screaming “you split the party”
you’re dumping these talking points everywhere - more lies from the Brown camp trying to do some damage control.
I talked to 4 people who witnessed his berating and it was far more than a little arm wave - he went ballistic because she supported hackett and said he was the “progressive in the race and hackett was just lying to everyone”

Damn Sherrod is sounding more like Tony Soprano than some mild mannered liberal.
If he thinks to strong arm the blogesphere and this race he is in for a very rude awakening.

The Ohio politician who has received the most ridicule during the past month is undoubtedly attorney general and gubernatorial candidate Jim Petro. Yet as an experienced politician, Petro understands that insults and criticism invariably come a candi…

Pounder said, “Brown is confused about what the Democratic party is. He thinks it is the progressive/liberal party”.
Isn’t it?

Mr. Brown’s apparent sense of entitlement to public office reminds me of somebody…..
December 21st, 2005 at 10:35 am
Ahh, come on… who???
December 21st, 2005 at 1:11 pm
Lemme guess… Bizzy Blog posting… must be Bob McEwen!

Jeff,
No I don’t think it is - but many want it to be, which is why reagan Democrats walked away - and we cant win elections.
December 26th, 2005 at 11:57 am
Pounder nailed it!
It’s pretty simple. Appealing to all Dems and independant minded voters in Ohio (once again) is the key to success for Dems. The Brown faction of the Party just won’t accept reality.
If Brown and Party leaders force Hackett out and Brown in…then we’re in for 6 more years of Senator Mike DeWine.
Party leadership has demonstrated that they just don’t get it, based on the fiasco(s) we’ve seen over the past 15 years or so.
They have the Party bus headed for the brick wall once again…Will they ever learn?
