Are You Sure That You Want To Stick With That Story, Congresswoman?

Tuesday Congresswoman Jean Schmidt claimed on the Bill Cunningham show that “I did not know he was a Marine or I would not have said it.”
Well… what do you know. JUST THE DAY BEFORE her outburst she was at a press conference defending President Bush’s failed leadership in Iraq. At the press conference Republican David Dreier said the following:
“I have the utmost respect for my colleague Jack Murtha. My father was a Marine. Jack Murtha was a very proud Marine. And I have worked with him for the last quarter century on the struggle for liberation in Central America and in other spots throughout the world — in military conflicts. And he was the chairman of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee. He’s now the ranking minority member of that subcommittee.”
Are you sure that you want to stick with that story, Congresswoman?
Very nice catch by Wayward Son over @ DKos.

[...] She sat right there while they talked about Murtha being a Marine. Was she asleep standing up? Doesn’t ANYONE go over her speeches before she goes out there? Has someone been fired over this? This statement doesn’t make any sense. [...]
