Cincinnati Mayor Charlie Luken and newly elected U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt are vowing to find out who is responsible for a hazardous railroad chemical car leak that forced more than a thousand residents out of their homes.

“Everybody is just furious about what happened, and we will leave no stone unturned finding out why it happened,” Luken said Monday. “It is inexcusable. My guess is that several laws or regulations have been violated.”

Schmidt said finding out what went wrong and trying to prevent similar problems in the future is “my No. 1 priority.”
