Canvassing will be going til dark tonight and starting back up again tomorrow morning. Contact Hackett for Congress (513) 735-4310 to get in on the action.
Action Reports:
- Hackett signs are everywhere. Some good coverage by Schmidt but not as much.
- Calls attacking Hackett are calling him “Tax Hike Hackett” and also talking about his support of gay marriage.
- There’s also work of a robo call going out to Black and rural voters that has a religious theme.
- Flyers are being handed out at some churches calling Hackett a “baby killer”
- Schmidt spoke at Hackett’s church today. (Gutsy move)
- Bishop Brown has out a radio ad from Hackett on 100.9 FM .
- Pastor Lynch and his father have sent out thousand of mailers for Hackett to their contacts.
- A woman started yelling at Hackett’s wife today when she was shopping with her children calling her a “baby killer”.
- One of Hackett’s kids was very upset when she heard about the Washington Post story quoting a White House official saying that they would “bury” him.
- Because of the extra volunteers thousands more people have been contacted about Hackett.
- Some people are expressing exhaustion from the amount of ads on the race. Not directed at any one candidate.
These are all very vague. Sorry I don’t have time to flesh them out more. Also if I make any errors.

Given that Schmidt herself has picketed abortion clinics and probably uttered similar words, that is unsurprising- albeit deeply disgusting.

Hackett on August 2nd!
Just returned from canvassing. We covered 4 districts. We are tired, but ready to go tomorrow.
Not many signs where we were. Although the Hackett signs did outnumber the Schmidt signs.
I am just curious, what is the name of Hackett’s church.
A few years ago my pastor stopped letting politicans speak during service. He will acknowledge that you are there, let you wave your hand, but no speaking during service times. You can pass out material before and after service, but nothing doing service.
I also wanted to clarify about Lynch so that people will not be confused. Rev. Damon Lynch Jr. and Rev. Damon Lynch III are both pastors of churches in Cincinnati. Lynch Jr. pastors New Jerusalem Baptist Church http://www.newjerusalembc.org located in Carthage new the Hamilton County Fair Grounds. Lynch III pastors New Prospect Baptist Church http://www.newprospectbaptist.org/ in Over The Rine.
I beleive he attends an Episcopalian church.
I talked to Paul about the church event tonight. It was not a part of the service, just something that they had invited her to do seperately so as to provide her with equal time.
It also sounds like the family has some stalkers. Ugly ugly stuff.
Last night a Hackett sign was removed from my front lawn, as well as Hackett signs from 2 other front yards. This apparently happened as the “new” yellow Schmidt signs were placed a few yards up the street. We have replaced all the Hackett signs on my street, and shame on the dishonorable ones involved in violating our private property.
In regard to Schmidt signs placed in front of a Kroger gas station, my daughter called the manager and politely asked if it was his policy to permit such, etc. Signs were removed within the 1/2 hour.
This evening I spotted a new Schmidt sign on Cincinnati park land. The Park Board or Cincinnati recreation Commission will be getting a call early tomorrow.
