Reports coming in of a massive $285,000 media buy by the National Republican Congressional Committee… polls showing Hackett within five points… old media buys being cancelled… heads rolling… disarray at Schmidt HQ.
History is happening right here, right now. There is no other place on earth where any person could have more of an impact then in Ohio’s 2nd district.
Paul Hackett is making history, and you can help.
Right now the Hackett campaign is working to buy television commercials to counter the attack ads that will begin spewing out by the Republican Beltway filth machine. They’ve got till noon tommorrow to do so. That takes cash. After that the focus will be on boots on the ground.

I just heard from a source close to the Schmidt campaign that the RNC has bought an unprecedented $750,000 worth of television attack ads to prevent Paul Hackett from getting any closer to Jean Schmidt in the polls at the last minute. My source also tells me that Jean Schmidt’s campaign manager who told this blog that the campaign would not go negative — quit tonight — because Jean insisted on going negative. We are told people from Washington have come in and taken over the entire campaign.
Developing….

My daughter, who is not even in the district but lives in zip 08, received a phone message that deprecates Paul Hackett. I don’t know the exact wording, but it was an attack.

Does anyone know how much money Hackett is getting from people mailing in checks? On his site you can mail in a contribution or send one in online through ActBlue. So Hackett probally has more money than what is shown given online through ActBlue.

Susie,
I know what you are talking about the RNC or the NRCC is calling people saying they should not vote for Hackett because he voted to raise taxes while he was on Milford City Council. the call never mentions for you to vote for Schmidt, just not to vote for Hackett. Also they say liberal Paul Hackett. I have never heard Hackett mention himself as a liberal.

Well - any action from the DNC or the DCCC? Should somebody be dispatched to wake them up?

This is an unsubstantiated rumor, but I heard that Bush might stop by this weekend to campaign for Schmidt. Considering how desperate Schmidt is getting (5 points! yowza!) this seems like a big possibility.

$20 bucks says no way.
Better to take the heat from her losing on her own and distancing yourself afterwards than risk her taking you down with you, especially when the Beltway ringwraiths are in full hate mode. You’ll be landing into the middle of the sewer.
Bush is a wingless duck if Schmidt loses after an Airforce One touchdown. Too risky.

OK, I just made another contribution from San Francisco. Here’s my question: Will there be any ad time left after the Republicans go on their feeding frenzy?

Jean Schmidt going negative…nothing new.
Did Joe Braun really quit?

I asked him for confirmation last night, but have not heard back from him.
I do know that he told me many times that they will not go negative.
