Michael Meckler is reporting that some of Jean Schmidt’s old pals are trying to make a comeback, this time by eating one of their own:

The “Bob Taft Recall Committee” is described as “A Special Project of the Ohio Taxpayers Association”, and the Ohio Taxpayers Association is Mount Vernon attorney Scott Pullins, the organization’s self-described “Chairman/CEO and General Counsel”.

Turns out that the Ohio Taxpayers Association goes way back with Ms. Schmidt:

Pullins and his Ohio Taxpayers Association had worked closely with former Ohio House Speaker (and current Perry County auditor) Larry Householder. Householder is under federal investigation over his fundraising practices while speaker, and the Ohio Taxpayers Association was involved in some of those practices. One episode in particular concerned the directing of campaign contributions to the Ohio Taxpayers Association to support current GOP 2nd District congressional candidate Jean Schmidt in her Householder-promoted but ultimately unsuccessful attempt last year to win the Republican primary in the 14th Ohio Senate district.
