Even though Jean Schmidt hasn’t won the election yet, it seems that she’s already thinking of Washington DC as home. Wednesday she’ll take her 3rd trip to the beltway during the campaign, this time to get showered with money at a party hosted co-sponsored by House Majority Whip Roy Blunt. And what will Congressman Blunt be buying with the money he’s raising for Schmidt? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out:
What’s the biggest issue before Congress right now? CAFTA
What state has been one of the hardest hit by pro multinational legislation like CAFTA? Ohio
What Republican running in the Ohio 2nd primary expressed reservations over CAFTA? Jean Schmidt
And who is in charge of rallying the Republican troops behind CAFTA? House Majority Whip Roy Blunt
It will be interesting to see if during this trip Ms. Schmidt will add to her sports memorabilia collection an autographed football from Washington Redskins quarterback Mark Brunell as a reminder of the day that she sold out Ohio’s workers.
ADDED: Thanks to Ms. Schmidt’s campaign manager for the correction

Hackett needs to talk about CAFTA at every opportunity. Whenever politics comes up in conversation with someone that really doesn’t follow politics as much as they think they do, that is someone that isn’t too concerned with abortion or gay marriage, it never seems to fail that their number one reason for disliking the Democrats and Bill Clinton in particular is because of NAFTA yet those same people vote for Rob Portman and have no clue that the majority of both houses of Congress that voted AGAINST NAFTA were Democrats.

That didn’t post like I had hoped. Sorry if you have trouble connecting to the links.

Ann Driscoll has posted a nice history of Jean’s problems with ethics.
It seems to me the voters in OH 2 have a clear distinction in the political approaches of these two candidates:
Paul Hackett’s “boots on the pavement” or Jean Schmidt’s “fannies in first class.”
I think that we should point out that according to the Enquirer she is paying $245 for each ticket. I don’t think that that sounds like first class. But, that won’t stop her from trying to upgrade.
OK, Jean Schmidt’s being showered with money over and over again by her party. I give the Republicans grudging approval for supporting their candidate.
So what’s the Democratic Party doing for Paul Hackett? Anybody know?
Hey… you don’t stop fighting while you wait for the calvary to arrive.
I checked into the fundraiser Jean Schmidt will be attending and it is ACTUALLY sponsored by Congressman John Boehner from West Chester. His office organized the event. Roy Blunt is listed as a co-sponsor only because he is the House Majority Whip and it is protocol.
