FYI: This whole stink about filming the debate came about when I learned that the campaigns are not allowed to film it themselves. That seems totally insane to me.
BTW, I’ve gotten confirmation of this by the Schmidt campaign:
Tonight’s debate at Chatfield College will be covered by numerous print media news outlets from across the District and portions of the debate will be taped by Fox 19 and used by their station. No other cameras or video/audio taping devices of any other kind will be permitted as this was the format each campaign agreed to at the request of Chatfield College. The topics which will be covered and questions will be selected by Jack Atherton and organizers of the debate.
Now it’s up to us to try to get Fox News to broadcast the entire debate.
Keep those cards and letters coming, folks! Maybe start of with a nice apology for all the bad things you said about Sean Hannity at those MoveOn meetups. Maybe buy one of those No Spin Zone laundry bags.
UPDATE: Fox News is balking at my request that they broadcast the entire debate or make it available online:
Once again, we agreed to supply a moderator for the debate (Jack Atherton). We will cover this event the same as we would cover any news story, no more no less. Who has access to this event is not our call. If the other accredited media outlets in town determine they do not want to cover this as a news story, that’s entirely their business and their call. We have nothing to do with that decision. Frankly, I can’t imagine the other television news operations not covering this story. Nobody is providing live coverage or complete tape coverage and that is probably what Bonnie White meant by the other media outlets won’t cover it… If you want to do this and they do not recognize you as an accredited news operation, I guess you need to battle that out with the event organizers……………….JLong
Also, I’ve included the entire email from the Schmidt campaign in the comments.

From Joe Braun, Jean Schmidt’s campaign manager:
