The Political Influentials has the texts for some Pat DeWine sponsored robocalls. First they were against Bob McEwen and now they’re targetting Tom Brinkman; specifically his very liberal position on the death penalty.
As any WPT fan will know, when you’re the chip leader you’ve got to use that stack like a weapon against the smaller fish, and DeWine is using his to full effect. Things must be getting pretty uncomfortable right about now for the rest of the pack.
Team Brinkman’s got to be counting pennies with all those media buys and The Enquirer is reporting that McEwen has once more dipped into his own savings to the tune of $150,000, making him down a cool quarter of a mill. Bob’s got to be regretting buying all of those damned yard signs right about now.
Ya know… I think if you listen real hard you can hear the music playing on the DeWine campaign bus as it drives by: It’s gettin’ hot in here… so take off all your clothes…
BTW, I must say… it takes a lot of guts for Brinkman to take the positions he has on the death penalty and trade. I wish more Democrats had the guts to stand up like he has.

If the post mortem of this race, I think that the single biggest mistake made by the local right to lifers was endorsing almost everyone but DeWine. The difference between everything and nothing is purely theoretical.

DeWine opposes abortion except when necessary to save the life of the mother. Same as McEwen. Go Figure. The RTL endorsements are meaningless.

DeWine got a 7/7 on the RTL survey, yet didn’t garner their endorsment. The RTL endorsments don’t mean jack s**t.

The Right to Life newsletter came out recently.
All 11 Republicans answered staight 7/7.
From the forums I have learned that some of the 11 include exceptions for life of the mother and/or rape and incest. Mr. Fossett opposes federal intervention in what he sees as a state issue.
I am for no abortions/no exceptions. I am for a federal ban.
The point is that all the 11 answered RTL’s questions the same. No interview or follow-up was conducted.
Like Minerva from the brow of Jupitor (mythological reference) the endorsements emerged fully armed.
If there is a reason why only two got “endorsed” it was not revealed. Unknowing voters may assume there is a logical reason and that there was a fair process and some form of opportunity to present ourselves to a committee or something like that. NOT.

I’m seeing that my point is being lost on everyone, which is fine.
