Early this morning the Paul Hackett campaign issued press releases announcing that he had secured the endorsements or the Hamilton and Clermont County Democratic Parties as well as Local 212 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).
In the Hamilton County announcement Chairman Tim Burke stated,
Paul is the one candidate who has the organization in place, a campaign staff and the political skills to unite democrats and pull a stunning upset.
In response to the County Party endorsements Hackett stated,
I’m honored to be endorsed as the democratic candidate for Congress by Hamilton and Clermont counties. Each candidate in this primary is a good democrat. Our views on the issues are comparable. However I am the candidate best prepared to represent all seven counties of the 2nd Congressional District. These endorsements come as strong steps towards uniting democrats across the district. As we continue to unite, the momentum will continue to build towards a victory in August.
The Enquirer reported today that the 50 members of the Hamilton County Democratic Party executive committee met for over 90 minutes to discuss the endorsement, although according to a party officials Hackett had the support of almost all of the members. (via Cincinnati Blog)
Charles T. Seymour, Business Manager for Local 212 was quoted by the Hackett campaign as stating,
Paul has conveyed to us that he will work hard to represent and protect the working men and women of the 2nd District. This is a promise coming from a United States Marine, for that we will believe.
Local 212 represents approximately 1600 professional electricians in the greater Cincinnati area.
UPDATE: A blogger over @ MyDD maintains that it is a violation of the Hamilton County Democratic Party to endorse a candidate in the primary. Is this true?
UPDATE 2: Chairman Tim Burke was gracious enough to get back to me right away debunking the allegations that their endorsement of Hackett was a violation of their charter.

This is not a violation of the Party’s Charter.

I’ve asked the County Party to comment. Still waiting to hear back. Where do you get these charters?

I sent an email to the Hamilton County Democratic Party asking about the charges that they were in violation of their charter and received this response back from Chairman Tim Burke:
